Our Institute Motto - "Work is Worship"

Before 1950's Usilampatti was very well known for gender cede i.e, killing female babies. In those days there was no private government organization. For the welfare of female children. "At that time, Miss. Ellen Nordmark. Swedish Missionary started the TELC Teacher Training Institute for women. Our Institution was started on July 9th 1951 by Miss.Ellen Mordmark for the welfare of women.

Our Institution is an aided Christian minority Institution. At first Junior grade training was given to those who passed 8th and Senior grade to those who had passed 10th std. From 1970 it was converted to Secondary grade training. From 1975 training was given as Diploma in Teacher Education and now it is given as diploma in Elementary. (D.El.Ed.,). Our Institution has produced thousands and capable teachers. It not only give education to our students but also love and discipline and even now it produces many good and efficient teachers.

Our Correspondent has given more effort to improve the standard of our students and due to his endless effort and mainly by God's grace, Our institution is still going on well and it is producing and will still produce much more great teachers in future also. In the year 2008 our former Principal Mrs. P. Shanthi Manohari, M.A., M.Ed., was awarded with "JEWEL Of India" for her best performance in the development of rural women.

In the year 2009 our former Correspomdent Mr. IEP. Gnanaraj, M.A., M.Phil., PGDPM., was awarded "VISHWA SEVA-LIONS" by the Lions Club in Chennai. In the same year Tamilan TV united with lions club awarded "The best Teacher Training Institution" to our institution in Madurai District.
